Prevailing Wage Law at the Valley Contractors Exchange

  • Date: September 22, 2016 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Prevailing wage law in California covers not only the payment of wages, but also regulates the payment of fringe benefits, holiday pay, travel and subsistence pay, and recordkeeping. State law also mandates the employment of apprentices. The penalties for non-compliance are stiff.

Join Cook Brown Partner Carrie Bushman to learn about 2016 updates and other aspects to the state prevailing wage laws. She will discuss the types of work and projects that are covered, including ready mix concrete hauling. Attendees will learn how to read and interpret prevailing wage determinations, including scopes of work, travel and subsistence provisions, and shift differential provisions. The class will also focus on: public works contractor registration requirements; apprenticeship compliance; recordkeeping requirements, including eCPR; and, enforcement.
