Karina is an Associate Attorney with Cook Brown LLP. She defends and advises employers on wage and hour matters and workplace issues, such as discrimination and wrongful termination.

During law school, Karina clerked at CalHR, as well as at a full-service law firm in Sacramento. She also volunteered at her law school’s Bankruptcy Clinic before joining Cook Brown as a law clerk during her second year of school. Her clerkships and volunteer work gave her hands-on experience, which she uses for the benefit of the firm’s clients.

Karina’s passion for defending employers stems from watching her father start his painting and decorating business with only a pickup truck. From an early age, she understood that creating a business can be one of the most rewarding aspects of a person’s life. For this reason, she has dedicated her career to helping protect businesses by defending employers in employment disputes, and also by helping employers take proactive measures, such as implementing compliant policies and business-oriented solutions, to avoid the risk of litigation where possible.

Karina graduated from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. Before law school, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Karina is Fluent in Spanish.

Results

Karina recently obtained a favorable ruling on a motion to compel arbitration in a hotly contested matter resulting in the striking of class claims from the complaint and a stay of the civil action pending the completion of arbitration.
