Ron’s colleagues frequently point to his skill as a creative problem solver. That’s one of the abilities underlying the success of a practice that encompasses all labor and employment issues including National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) elections and unfair labor practices, federal and state court injunctions for unlawful picketing and strike activity, state and federal wage and hour matters, multi-employer trust fund matters including withdrawal liability actions under MPPAA, discrimination complaints, and wrongful termination litigation.
He is also known for his work in the labor relations aspects of mergers and acquisitions, labor arbitration, limiting union access to private property, prosecution of secondary boycott claims against unions, Americans with Disabilities Act claims (both access and discrimination), prevailing wage litigation, and collective bargaining with Machinists, Teamsters, UFCW, and building trades unions. He has argued several cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the California Courts of Appeal.
Ron’s early experience set the foundation for his practice. He spent seven years as Director of Labor Relations with the Defense Language Institute, a federal agency with over 1,000 employees. His responsibilities included collective bargaining, grievance arbitration, unfair labor practice hearings, and wage and hour investigations, while managing his own employees.
He is licensed to practice before all California state courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Eastern, Central and Northern federal district courts of California.
Ron has an AV Preeminent™ rating by Martindale-Hubbell, and in 2017 he was selected for the California Super Lawyers list. At the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, Ron was named to the Order of the Coif, received the American Jurisprudence Award and the Robert Driscoll Award for Labor Law Scholarship, and was a member of the Traynor Honor Society.
