Barbara Cotter of Cook Brown LLP will participate in a panel discussion on “Legal Perspectives in the Time of COVID-19” at the Federation of Alliances Francaises USA 2020 Virtual Convention on Friday, October 2 at 12:30 p.m. PST.
While each state has its own regulations for COVID-19 reopening, and each state is in very different stages of re-opening (which continue to evolve and change daily), Alliance Francaise administrators and board members should ideally have a grasp of the overall COVID-related obligations of the organization and the specific situations that can arise prior to and during the reopening. These have to do with the preparations of the physical plant, the potential liability of the organization, the handling of COVID-19 infections among students and teachers, the role of insurance, and so forth. AF chapters are also increasingly seeking remote hires, so this will also be an opportunity to re-examine employment classifications and their significance.
