New CRD Notice Now Available: “Survivors of Violence and Family Members of Victims Right to Leave and Accommodations”
As of July 1, 2025, the California Civil Rights Department (CRD) published a new mandatory workplace notice in compliance with legislation signed into law last session, AB 2499, which took effect on January 1, 2025. The updated laws expand the rights of employees impacted by a qualifying act of violence.
Employers need to provide this new Model Notice or a notice that is substantially similar to inform employees of their rights. The information is required to be provided to:
- New employees upon hire
- All employees annually
- Any employee upon request
- Any time the employer becomes newly aware that an employee or an employee’s family member is a victim.
More information about the law can be found here in the FAQs.
