Audits and Compliance

Federal and state agencies are responsible for investigating and enforcing prevailing wage law. The Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor, as well as the Contracting Officer of the U.S. Government Agency involved in the contract, are responsible for determining compliance with the Federal Regulations and Contract Specifications requiring the payment of prevailing wages and benefits on Federal public works.

The Division of Labor Standards Enforcement is responsible for investigations and enforcement of the California prevailing wage law. The Division of Apprenticeship Standards is responsible for investigations and enforcement of the apprenticeship obligations on state public works projects, including compliance with the "Notice of Contract Award Information," and "Request For Dispatch of Apprentices," and the payment of "training fees."
